James Blake
Playing Robots Into Heaven
On September 21, 2023, James Blake brought his stunning music to Forest National. With his unique sound and new single 'Big Hammer,' he once again surprised us, as always.
James Blake is a sought-after artist for collaborations with his peers, but mostly makes a name for himself with the audacity and quality of his own work. Today, the English artist releases a first song to the world as a precursor to his sixth album, 'Playing Robots Into Heaven', which will be released soon. He is taking the opportunity to announce a new tour, which also stops in Belgium.
James Blake's brilliant career reaps downright impressive rewards. For instance, he produced songs on some of the most influential albums of recent years, including Frank Ocean's 'Blonde', Kendrick Lamar's 'DAMN', as well as JAY-Z's '4:44' and Beyoncé's 'Lemonade'—to which he also lent his voice in both cases. He recently collaborated with Metro Boomin on the Spider-Verse soundtrack on tracks “Hummingbird” and “Nonviolent Communication” ft A$AP Rocky and 21 Savage. But it is mainly as a solo artist that he continues to amaze and surprise us. In 2011 his self-titled debut album was the perfect introduction to his unique sound, which was good for an exceptional 9 out of 10 score awarded by Pitchfork and a place on the American website’s “Top 100 Albums of the Decade So Far (2010-2014)”. After 'The Colour In Anything' in 2016, he reached new commercial heights in 2019 with 'Assume Form'. With more than 300 million streams in less than a year, the album earned him a Grammy nomination in the 'Best Alternative Album' category. Barely two years after his fifth album 'Friends That Break Your Heart', again acclaimed by the press, the talented British singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer is back with a new masterpiece, of which the first single “Big Hammer” already gives us a taste. New songs as well as danceable hits to enjoy on 21 September at Forest National.
